Alligator Reef

Southeast-facing reef 4 miles offshore from Islamorada. The Keys chain provides excellent protection from north and west, but east through south swells from the Atlantic hit at full strength. Reef structure dissipates some wave energy, though shallow sections get surgy when Atlantic swells are up.
