Corral Canyon

Entry and exit are from the sandy beach, which has a moderate slope. The shoreline can have unpredictable surf, so time your entry and exit with wave sets and be prepared for challenging conditions.

Beach access requires a short hike down a trail from the parking area. The trail can be steep in places, so use caution when carrying dive gear.

The site supports a healthy ecosystem including garibaldi, kelp bass, and various rockfish species. Octopuses and lobsters can be found in the rocky areas, while halibut and occasional guitarfish may be spotted on the sandy bottom. During spring and summer, the kelp forests harbor numerous juvenile fish species.

The underwater terrain features a mix of rocky reef structures and sandy expanses. The reef consists of medium-sized boulders and rock formations that provide habitat complexity. Kelp grows along the rocky areas, creating vertical structure and shelter for marine life. The site gradually slopes to deeper water, reaching maximum depths of around 55 feet before transitioning to primarily sandy bottom.

Limited parking is available along the shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway near the beach access point. Arrive early to secure a spot, especially on weekends.

There are no facilities at this beach. The nearest restrooms and services are at nearby Malibu beaches such as Dan Blocker or Corral State Beach.

Low throughout most of the year. The site is less known and less accessible than popular Malibu dive spots, offering a more secluded experience. Even on weekends, underwater congestion is rarely an issue.

The site is exposed to open ocean swells, making conditions unpredictable. Check surf forecasts carefully before planning a dive here. Longshore currents can be strong, particularly during tide changes. Limited parking and lack of facilities means you should come prepared with everything you need. The beach access trail can be slippery, especially when wet, so use caution when transporting gear.
