About This Site
Joe's Tug is a popular small wreck dive located just a few miles off Key West. Despite its name, the wreck is actually a 75-foot steel-hulled shrimp boat that sank in 1986. Over the decades, it has transformed into a vibrant artificial reef completely encrusted with colorful sponges and soft corals, making it one of the most photogenic wreck dives in the Keys.

South-facing wreck a few miles off Key West. Partial protection from northerly swells, but position southwest of the Keys exposes it to energy from east through west. Southwest and west swells wrap around the Keys with significant strength. Proximity to shore keeps conditions moderate most days.
