About This Site
The intertwined remains of two historic vessels: the SS Kyzickes, a 346-foot tanker that sank December 1, 1927 while carrying crude oil from Texas to Philadelphia, and the SS Carl Gerhard, a 244-foot Swedish freighter that struck the submerged Kyzickes on September 23, 1929 while carrying phosphate rock from Florida to Baltimore. The Carl Gerhard now rests on top of the Kyzickes, forming the triangle shape that gives this site its name. Located 200 yards offshore in 15-25 feet of water.
