Lover's Point

Entry and exit are from the beach. Conditions can vary, and there can be surf to navigate, so assess conditions carefully before entering.

The dive site is accessed from the beach. There are stairs leading down to the water, making entry and exit easier.

Lover's Point is home to a variety of marine life. Divers can expect to see various species of rockfish, lingcod, cabezon, and colorful nudibranchs. The kelp forests often harbor octopuses, and sea lions are frequent visitors.

The site features a mix of sandy bottom and rocky reef areas. Kelp forests provide vertical structure and habitat for many species. The bottom slopes gradually, with more complex structures appearing as you get deeper.

There's a parking lot at Lover's Point Park, but it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Street parking is also available in the surrounding area.

Lover's Point Park offers restrooms and picnic areas. There are also restaurants and cafes nearby in Pacific Grove.

Moderate to high, especially on weekends and during summer months. The park itself is a popular tourist destination, and the beach area can get crowded with swimmers and sunbathers. Divers typically enter from the eastern side of the point to avoid the busiest areas. Once underwater and away from the immediate entry area, the crowd factor decreases significantly.

Be cautious of boat traffic, including kayaks and paddleboards that frequent the area. Strong surge can develop, especially during high swell conditions. The site has sections with thick kelp that can entangle equipment if proper buoyancy control isn't maintained. Entry and exit points can be slippery and challenging during low tide or high surf. Watch for fishing lines from shore anglers who often cast from adjacent rocks.
