Mala Wharf at the north end of Lahaina is arguably the best shore dive on Maui. The collapsed pier, destroyed by Hurricane Iniki in 1992, has created an extensive artificial reef teeming with marine life. Multiple turtle cleaning stations and resting areas make green sea turtle encounters virtually guaranteed. White tip reef sharks are common residents, and the site is renowned for its nudibranch diversity. The combination of easy access, abundant marine life, and interesting underwater structure makes this a must-dive destination.

Shore dive on Maui's west coast near Lahaina. Well protected from northeast trade wind swells by West Maui mountains. Exposed to west and northwest swells which can bring surge to the pier structure. Generally calm conditions most of the year.
