Black Pebble Beach

Entry via a steep pebble beach; time surges carefully. Exit can be challenging with gear weight, so keep fins on until you’re clear of waves.

Shore dive only, with entry from a rocky pebble beach at the base of the Kona Paradise subdivision.

Sea turtles, triggerfish, moray eels, octopuses, and occasional nudibranchs.

Coral reefs with canyons and walls to the north, transitioning to a sandy bottom with a sharp drop-off.

Parking available at designated lots off Kaohe Road and Mapuna Road at the bottom of Kona Paradise; spaces are limited, so arrive early.

No on-site restrooms or showers; bring your own water and gear storage. Nearest facilities are in Kailua-Kona, about 30 minutes away.

Low to moderate, as the remote location and challenging entry deter crowds, though local divers visit on calm days.

Entry and exit can be difficult with surge and large waves, especially in winter. Do not dive during heavy surf. The steep pebble beach requires sturdy booties. Check swell forecasts and use a dive flag as required by law.
