Entry & Exit

Entry via a rocky beach with a sandy channel; time waves carefully. Exit by swimming back and walking out.

Access

Shore dive only, with entry from a rocky beach near the mile marker.

What You'll See

Sea turtles, yellow tangs, moray eels, eagle rays, and occasional manta rays.

Underwater Topology

Lava tubes, canyons, and coral-covered reefs with sandy patches and a gentle slope.

Parking

Parking lot near the site off Ali’i Drive, but spaces can fill up quickly, especially in the morning.

Facilities

No on-site restrooms or showers; nearby Magic Sands Beach Park, less than a quarter mile north, has restrooms and showers.

Crowd Factor

Moderate, with divers and snorkelers frequenting the site, especially in summer when conditions are calmer. Less crowded in early mornings.

Look Out For

Rocky entry requires booties and careful footing. Surge and waves can be strong, especially in winter. Visibility may drop with rough conditions. Check swell forecasts before diving.

How to Find It

From Kailua-Kona, head south on Ali’i Drive for about 4 miles. Look for the Mile Marker 4 sign and park in the lot just past Magic Sands Beach Park. A short path leads to the rocky beach entry.
