Entry via a short path between boulders to a sandy beach with rocky patches; wade in carefully. Exit by swimming back and walking out, timing waves to avoid surge.

Shore dive only, with entry from a sandy and rocky beach at the northern end of the park.

Green sea turtles, parrotfish, moray eels, occasional eagle rays, and rare nudibranchs.

Lava tubes, arches, and coral-covered reefs with a sandy bottom, gently sloping to deeper waters.

Spacious parking on the old runway at Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area; rarely crowded except during community events.

Restrooms, showers, and picnic tables available within the park, suitable for staging gear, though facilities may need maintenance.

Moderate, with families and locals frequenting the park on weekends. Divers are fewer, ensuring a peaceful underwater experience.

Rocky entry requires booties for safety. Winter swells can bring surge, so check conditions before diving. Visibility may drop with stirred sediment. A dive flag is required by law.
